Mark Ballard

Kidney Transplant

Mark Ballard's Bio

Mark Allen Ballard grew up in Damascus, Maryland.  He graduated from Damascus High School in 1973 and  has been married to his wife, Terrie, for 34 years.  Mark has three fantastic children, Mark Robert, Morgan and Mikinsie and three beautiful grandsons, Marshall, Colt & Mason.

In 2005, Mark was diagnosed with colon cancer.  He had surgery at FMH Hospital and was in the hospital eight days from a nicked intestine. Sepsis set in and he was transferred to John’s Hopkins Hospital. This was an extensive hospital stay and lead to long term disability.

Over the years of 2012 through 2016, Mark was re-hospitalized with multiple strokes, meningitis, small bowel obstruction, and Al Amyloidosis following a kidney biopsy.  He has continued to endure kidney dialysis.

In 2014, Mark went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota for a stem cell transplant with chemo which lead to an extensive hospital stay.   He would need to be in remission for one year before the eligibility of a kidney transplant.  In 2016, Mark returned the Rochester Mayo Clinic for a second stem cell transplant and chemotherapy.  We are still hoping for remission as Mark continues to endure dialysis three times per week and has been on long term disability.

Please help Mark and his family.  Your prayers and donations are greatly appreciated.
