George Carroll's Bio
George Carroll is a true Fredericktonian. Born in Frederick in 1965, he lived here until 1997 when he moved to Virginia to work at the College of William and Mary. Working in their IT department allowed George to work on several different extremely interesting parts of their establishment. While visiting home in 2004, George met Nick Walker, owner of We Help-U-Move, and decided that he could not just sit still while on vacation. George asked Nick to put him to work and the rest, as they say, is history. George has worked for Nick since that day, and has become an integral part of Nick’s company and they remain great friends. During that 2004 vacation, George developed blood clots which he fights to this day.
George started his career as a chef at Café Chesapeake, and moved on to Carriage House. He continues to enjoy cooking for friends and family. He also worked with Donald B. Rice Tire Company before his move to Virginia. He has five children, three sons and two daughters and was recently blessed with his first granddaughter, who he says can do no wrong! George was a caregiver to his father during his fight with prostate cancer, and he continues to help care for his mother who fights rheumatoid arthritis and Parkinson’s diseases.
George loves to cook, and enjoys cooking for others as evidenced by his early career choices. During his high school years he played football at Governor Thomas Johnson High School and later he boxed professionally for almost thirteen years. George is a music lover, and enjoys all different kinds of music!
In June 2015, George was diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer. His fight is just beginning, and fight he will. Anyone who knows George knows that he is a jack of all trades and is a giver, not a taker. George is highly involved in helping with various area charities and loves nothing more than helping others. It is our turn to help our friend, and show him the kindness he has always shown others. It will not be easy for him to accept our help, but he is working on it!
As George gears up for the fight of his life, we ask that you help him with this fight. It is the least we can do for our local hero!
