PPF, Inc. sadly announces the passing of Brent on February 25, 2015. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends. Read full Obituary here.
Brent Blickenstaff was on vacation on September 7,2013 at Ocean City, MD with his wife Patty, son Cody and daughter Bailey. They were enjoying surfing and swimming. Brent went into the water at about 3pm in the afternoon. He was only in the water a short time when the family was alerted that something was wrong.
Brent was carried out of the water by a fellow swimmer, and appeared unable to breath. The lifeguards began CPR and when the ambulance arrived he was put on a ventilator. He was taken to a local hospital where he was stabilized and then flown to Peninsula Hospital in Salisbury, MD. There he was diagnosed with a broken neck of the C1 and C2 vertebrae with nearly complete spinal cord injury. He is currently at the University Of Maryland (Baltimore) Shock Trauma Medical Center. Brent is paralyzed from the neck down; he is on a ventilator and is facing surgery to stabilize the broken vertebrae. His only ability to communicate is by blinking. His family has rallied around him and he is determined to proceed with the necessary surgeries in order to stabilize his neck and to place a diaphragm pacer which may help to breath independently.
The family appreciates all the support, prayers and encouragement that have been expressed to them from the church, community and family.
