Unlike
most CLL cases, Sandy's was very
aggressive from the start.
Unfortunately, chemotherapy has not
been effective in forcing a remission
and in March 2009 the CLL in Sandy's
body changed into something called
Richter's Syndrome (or Richter's
Transformation), which is rare and can
be treated but has no known cure. We
are all praying for her.
Since
March 5, 2009 there have been many
complications and Sandy has been in the
hospital for all but 11 days. As a
self-employed massage therapist Sandy
has no income when she is hospitalized
and cannot work.
We are
hopeful that the doctors can get the
disease in her body under control so she
can receive a bone marrow transplant.
For now Sandy stays in the hospital, her
medical bills are piling up and
insurance only covers a fraction of the
costs, which is where we’re asking for
your help.
