Hi
My Name is Tobey Rae Woods, I am 37
years old and a single mom of a 14 year
old Erica she attends Oakdale High
School. March of 2003 I had
a partial hysterectomy because I was
diagnosed with cervical cancer. I was
told I did not need to have chemo or
radiation.
On September 16th, 2011 I was diagnosed
with invasive duct carcinoma, stage 2
breast cancer, I was alone when I found
out and did not what to think, so I went
back to work only to sit and be dazed at
the news and my future to come. The next
few days were a blur as I processed what
I had been told I knew I had to tell my
daughter, family and boyfriend Ron and
his family for this would be my only
local support, my family is in Savannah,
Ga. My life has been turned upside down
overnight and was going to get very up
and down from here on out. Surgery was
scheduled to have a partial mastectomy
on September 23, 2011 and I started an
aggressive form of chemotherapy on
October 19th. I used to work a full time
job and now I am on disability and
spending my days back and forth to the
oncologist. I was also diagnosed with
the BRCA1/BRCA2 gene so I will have to
have all my female organs removed to
help my chances of the cancer not
returning. This will only raise my
chances they say, but we all know there
are no guarantee’s in life.
I have 4 more rounds of TAC chemotherapy
before I can schedule the double
mastectomy and then recovery time before
the doctors can do the complete
hysterectomy.
Even without the holidays I have no idea
how we will make it to stay afloat for
the next 4 months let alone a projected
out of work time while I recover from
the surgeries.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
God Bless
Tobey |
