Terri McNeil is 40 years young, wife to
amazing husband, Brad McNeil and mother
to two cheeky little monkeys, Owen (age
6) & Noah (age 3). She & Brad moved to
Maryland just over 10 years ago and have
made the very best friends people could
ask for! They are a 2-income family and
work very hard to raise 2 little boys to
be gentlemen who love God. This is not a
role Terri is ready to give up and longs
to be their Mommy and Brad’s wife for as
long as God allows.
On July 2nd, when Terri woke up from an
endoscopy procedure after experiencing
symptoms similar to acid reflux, she was
informed she had lymphoma. Ironically,
Terri’s oldest sister had passed away
from this disease just 4 years ago, at
age 40. Needless to say, they were
devastated, not just from the diagnosis,
but the rushing back of the weight of
the loss of her sister to the forefronts
of their minds. After a 4-day wait over
a long holiday weekend, the results came
back…it was NOT lymphoma, but stage 4
stomach cancer that had metastasized to
the liver. The results on the pathology
reported…”numerous spots”…”too many
lesions to count” in regards to the
liver. Being on the receiving end of
this news was like an out-of-body
experience. As many patients know all
too well with any serious illness, a
battery of tests and doctors
appointments ensued. The criticality is
the condition of the liver and at this
point, surgery is not an option. Terri
began her chemotherapy treatment on
Monday, July 26th and will continue
through 6 cycles of 1st line treatment.
Because of the high mortality rate of
gastric cancer, this is very likely to
be a very long battle. One we intend to
win, but long and difficult
none-the-less. The financial burdens of
cancer to any family are arduous and
unfortunately, their family is no
different.
Terri’s wish is to shrink the tumors in
the liver into an operable state, return
to Johns Hopkins and request that the
doctor that told her surgery would be
highly unlikely for her, would perform a
surgery to the best of his God-given
abilities. Terri believes strongly that
God is still in the business of
performing miracles and that she will be
able to tell everyone about God’s
healing so indeed, the glory will be
his.
Terri & Brad thank you for reading their
story and are deeply touched that you
took the time to read it. Thank you for
considering contributing to any of the
PPF recipients, as all are worthy. Many
blessings to you & yours.
