Sawyer
is a 16 year old student who completed
his junior year of high school. He was a
scholar athlete with a bright future
ahead. Sawyer was an accomplished
lacrosse player who made all area FNP
First Team. He was looking forward to
playing lacrosse at the college level
like his older brother Zeke, who plays
for Salisbury University. Sawyer hopes
to complete his senior year at
Walkersville High School where he has
attended all three years.
On
July 27th, 2011, Sawyer was out
celebrating with his girlfriend and 2
other friends when the single car
accident occurred.
Sawyer was flown to Shock Trauma where
he was fighting for his life. He was
treated for Traumatic Brain Injury/Close
Head Injury, Sub-Dural Hematoma,
Traumatic Encephalopathy, Neurologic
gait Dysfunction, Clavicle fracture,
Tendon Lacerations, Both upper
Extremities, Facial Fractures and other
injuries sustained. He was hospitalized
from July 28th to August 23rd,2011.
As
part of his continued rehabilitation, he
must attend intensive outpatient therapy
at Kennedy Krieger Hospital. Sawyer
still requires 24-hour supervision, but
continues to make wonderful progress in
his recovery.
The long-term prognosis for Sawyer is
undetermined at this time but it is
expected that he will continue to show
improvement with continued
rehabilitation therapies.
Sawyer is a strong, determined young man
who will give 100% to recover and live a
normal life. He has so many people to
thank for all the prayers, love and
friendship through his journey of
healing,
God Bless Sawyer and God Bless all who
take the time to care!
