Connor and Ciana Rutledge
| The families
of Conner and Ciana Rutledge would like to thank
all that have helped them this past year.
Thanks
to the help of the PPFinc organization they were
able to move in to a home that provides more
space for Connor and his nurse and all of the
equipment necessary for his well being. This
also enables him to become more a part of the
family happenings. He is still attending Rock
Creek School
Ciana had an
operation to remove her bladder which contained
the tumor. So far
all of her findings have been good. She will
have to under go more surgery when she gets
older but is now living the active life of any
toddler.
We urge you all
to continue to support the PPFinc fundraiser so
that others may also benefit from this great
organization. |

Connor was born
on December 30, 2004 at Howard County General
Hospital. Doctors performed an emergency
C-section due to his heart rate dropping to
zero. After the C-section, doctors spent 7
minutes doing resuscitation. The results of his
birth left Connor with serious brain and lung
damage. The physicians then sent him to Johns
Hopkins Hospital where a trach was inserted and
he was placed on a ventilator. He also requires
a feeding tube. Connor spent 5 months at Johns
Hopkins and another 3 months at Mt. Washington
Hospital in Baltimore. After 8 months Connor was
allowed to come home. He requires 16 hours of
home nursing care a day. With his nurse he has
started attending Rock Creek School. Connor is
not able to sit or stand his own and he relies
on a feeding tube for nourishment. |

| Ciana was born
November 26, 2007 at Howard County General
Hospital. After her birth she was placed in the
NICU because doctors believed she had a mass in
her abdomen. The Howard County NICU decided to
transfer Ciana to Johns Hopkins Hospital. At
Johns Hopkins they performed a catheterization
and found a blockage in her bladder. After
further testing it was determined that the
blockage was a malignant tumor in her bladder.
Chemo was started immediately and she will have
to undergo a minimum of 40 weeks of
chemotherapy. Every 15 weeks Ciana has to
undergo a battery of tests and scans to make
sure that the cancer is contained. Ciana and
Connor have an older sister Cassie and a brother
Matt. |
