Kimberly Snow

Kimberly Snow Fund

On Sunday, April 25th Kimberly was 4 years old. Due to a persistent fever and vomiting she was taken to the Doctor for a routine sick visit. On Thursday, April 29th, we learned that Kimberly’s fever and vomiting was due to a severe form of Cancer called Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Since then between 5-21 day monthly hospital stays, we have made weekly trips to Children’s Hospital in Washington DC. Our battle against this form of Leukemia is estimated to be for three years. We have completed our first year of treatment. Since Kimberly’s diagnosis, we have struggled to keep our home, provide birthday and holiday gifts, and keep things as normal for our family as we could. Kimberly is the youngest of three. She has an older brother, 9 and sister, 12.

Due to the hospital visits and stays, we have gone from a two income household to a one. My job said they couldn’t hold a position open for me since I couldn’t commit to a permanent return date and a 40 hour work week. My husband has been the sole provider for our family since I lost my job.

Kimberly has earned the affectionate title “Energizer Bunny”. No matter how sick she feels, she still musters up enough energy to play with her friends or ride her bike. She just keeps going and going. The Oncologist at Children’s proudly states that Kimberly is her poster child.
