David Schlesinger,
resident of Urbana and 43 year old
father of three young children, suffered
a ruptured cervical disc on November 12,
2007. He had developed pain and some
weakness in his lower extremities in the
days prior to his collapse. Emergency
surgery left David paralyzed from the
chest area down. In addition he has
weakness in his arms and loss of fine
motor movements in his hands. Due to an
extensive amount of swelling in the
spinal cord, his prognosis is uncertain
as to the degree of functioning he will
regain. This previously active and
athletic family man, now finds himself
and his family with an uncertain future.
David is currently at home receiving
physical and occupational therapy on a
daily basis. He is determined to work
hard to recover as much motor function
and self sufficiency as possible. As you
can imagine, the financial burden is
great. Not only is his family carrying
the additional financial burdens of
David's medical needs, but they are also
suffering the loss of his income as a
self employed provider. While David and
wife Lisa are uncomfortable with asking
for financial help, many would like to
contribute. If so, please send donations
to PPF, Inc., in the name of David
Schlesinger.

Swing 4 Schlesinger
is a golf tournament organized to
benefit David Schlesinger, his wife and
three young children.
www.swing4schlesinger.org
David, a healthy,
active 43-year-old, woke on November 12,
2007, from emergency surgery to find
himself paralyzed from his mid-chest
down. What felt like normal
sports-related pain — an ache that took
a backseat to his life's
responsibilities — was really an
undiagnosed disk compression resulting
in a ruptured cervical disk. At that
moment, David's and his family's life
changed. David's stamina, determination
and family support became core for his
progress.
The Swing 4 Schlesinger
tournament aims to raise funds so that
David and his family can focus on his
recovery.
Join us, join me, in supporting this
important cause for my brother — a man,
a husband, and a father with great
determination and values.
Sincerely, Lisa Schlesinger,
Chair
