Carrie Legge, was born on September 2,
1980. She is 28 years old and happily
married to Brandon with 4 beautiful
children, Brandon Jr., Tommy, Savanna,
and Gavin. Carrie grew up in Frederick,
Maryland - living on Shookstown Road for
most of her life in "the house that Bob
built" with her parents, Cathy & Bob,
and siblings, Emily & Michael. Carrie
was the typical "baby" of the family -
lingering with Cathy & Bob to all of
their dinner parties, dates, movie
nights at home, and other events. Cathy
& Bob were so used to having Carrie
around, it would seem unusual for them
to go out without her. Carrie was
adored by all of their friends and
neighbors, so they never minded her
tagging along.

As a child, Carrie was quiet but said a
lot with her bright blue eyes and shy
smile. When she was around her family,
she would let loose and get silly!
There were many summers spent with all
the cousins at the beach. We would put
on talent shows, fashion shows, practice
our
Redskins
cheers for Grandad, jump the ocean waves
while singing "Hangin
Tough!" haha and just enjoy
being with each other. We are all lucky
to have those memories and to have grown
up in such a large and loving
family. And of course- we all remember
Carrie's obsession with the New Kids on
the Block! Her boyfriend for many years
was Joey McIntyre. It probably was
around the time that she met
Brandon when she finally let go of Joey!
:o)
Carrie & Brandon were married in 1998.
Their "how did you meet?" story trumps
most others!They were driving around
Frederick in separate cars with
friends. At a stop light, Carrie's
friend noticed that in the car next to
them was someone she knew.
They motioned to each other to pull over
& it was during that encounter
that Carrie & Brandon met. The rest is
history! They have both been lucky since
that day to have found each other!
Carrie was immediately head over heels.
Carrie & Brandon have four children
together, who know her as "the best
mommy in the world!" Family has always
been important to Carrie, but it is
obvious when you see her with her
children. She does her best to give
them everything they need and then
some! Carrie & Brandon have continued
the summer beach tradition - taking
their kids on vacation with family &
friends.
Carrie graduated from Hood College with
a degree in Education. She is a teacher
at Spring Ridge Elementary School. It
is no surprise that her students and
co-workers think that she's pretty
special too!
In 2000, Carrie's father, Bob, was
diagnosed with Lymphoma and faced a
battle to fight for his life. Bob went
through similar treatment, as well as a
bone marrow transplant. This was an
emotional, financial, and physical
challenge for Bob & his family. Carrie
was devastated to say the least when she
heard about her father's illness. She
supported him every step of the way -
literally! Carrie, Cathy, and dear
family friend, Karen Fink, participated
in the 26.2 mile marathon for the
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society several
years ago in honor of Bob. Together
they raised $15,800 for the
organization. Luckily, Bob was able to
come out on top & has been cancer free
for 8 years!
It is hard to imagine that lightening
would strike twice. On September 8,
2008, Carrie was diagnosed with Acute
Lymphoblast Leukemia. She is currently
receiving treatment at Johns Hopkins in
Baltimore. Carrie continues to be our
role model and is pushing through this
adversity. She is undergoing chemo
treatments and will have a bone marrow
transplant in January. Carrie will
remain at Johns Hopkins throughout her
procedures & treatments for the next few
months, hopefully returning home by
mid-March. We are all keeping our
fingers crossed and our prayers
flowing! Please join us in our efforts
to support Carrie, Brandon, and their
family!
