The
current economic climate is most
certainly troubling for businesses and
individuals alike. While many of us may
worry or be in fear of what lies ahead,
there are some whose circumstances are
magnified even more by critical illness.
This letter is our call for your help
with one such person and her family. You
don’t know Moe Anderson so let me
introduce you.
Betty (Moe) Anderson is a 46 year old
single parent. Her son Dallas is 13
years old and in his last year of middle
school. Besides being a very dedicated
mom, Moe is extremely active in her
church community.
Moe was first diagnosed with cancer in
2005, only two years after losing her
mom to this terrible disease.
Immediately taking the proper tests it
was determined that Moe’s cancer was not
caused by a genetic factor. Electing to
fight this disease head on, she chose
the most radical form of treatment in
order to decrease the possibility of
reoccurrence to 10% or less. These steps
included a bilateral mastectomy, a
hysterectomy and chemotherapy.
In August, 2008, Moe discovered a lump
in her chest which was identified as
recurrent breast cancer. She underwent
chemotherapy as well as radiation.
In January 2010 Moe fell at work and was
taken to the hospital by ambulance in
severe pain. Upon arrival they did a CT
scan that showed that the cancer had
metastasized to the bone. She was in the
hospital for three weeks and underwent
extensive physical therapy although
limited due to the brittleness of her
bones. This time the diagnosis is one
that no one wants to hear. The disease
is terminal. She will be on chemotherapy
for the remainder of her life. In March
2011 she had to leave her job and apply
for disability. The disability benefits
will not kick in until September 2011.
We are asking each of you to join Moe’s
team and help her and Dallas make it
through this difficult time and ask that
each help according to your ability to
do so. Most of all we ask that you
continue to keep Moe and Dallas in your
thoughts and prayers.
