Dan Mack

Daniel Mack AML Cancer Fund

Iron Man Dan
36 Hole Scramble 2009

Dan Mack passed away April 30, 2009 at the Hospice of Queen Anne's surrounded by family and friends.  Danny was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on February 9th, 2008 and traveled from Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore to Fairview Hospital at the University of Minnesota and then on to MD Anderson in Houston. On April 6, 2009 Dan finally got the stem cell transplant from his sister that he fought so hard to make happen.  While the transplant did start to work, the cancer quickly returned and Dan returned peacefully to God.

Dan was always, and his family remains, so thankful to so many.

Your donations to the PPF (Patty Pollatos Fund) will 100% go to the needs of Daniel's family. We can not thank you enough. God Bless.

Dan, Mary, Clarie & Delia

Danny is 44 with a wife, Mary and two children Delia (10) and Claire (8).

Dan is now at the University's of Texas's MD Anderson hospital in Houston. His home is in Maryland. Danny was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia on February 9th, 2008 and has been treated at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore as well as at Fairview Hospital at the University of Minnesota.  On April 6, 2009 Dan finally got the stem cell transplant from his sister, Betsy, and is thrilled to now be working towards being cleared of this disease.

He remains mentally very strong and motivated to battle this.  He has the best doctors and nurses in the world and friends who will do anything for him and his family.

Friends, Alumni, Supporters, Booster Members and Coaches,

Who was Iron Man Dan? :

Danny Mack was a personal friend of mine and so many others; he lived 44 incredible years, Married an amazing woman and loved his 2 children more than anything.  Words cannot describe how amazing of a husband, father, son, brother and special person Dan was and someone that we all enjoyed being around  He was a former Walkersville High and Towson State University football player/graduate, hard working businessman and an incredible athlete.

In Feb. of 2008, Dan was diagnosed with AML Leukemia, a serious fast-growing Cancer of the blood and bone marrow.  Dan received a stem cell transplant donation from his sister, Betsy in early April.  Dan suffered with this disease and fought to the end like a true champion. He is remembered as a winner, an incredible individual that never gave up his fight to beat this terrible disease. Sadly, Dan was taken from us on April 30, 2009.  Our hearts go out to Dan and his family during this difficult time.

I would like to personally thank the many people that have already made donations from across the world.   The love and support that Dan’s  family continues to receive is remarkable!
